
Dispute over cutting of puti fish : Husband strangled his wife to death in Muradnagar, appears at PS

A husband strangled his wife to death over a dispute over cutting of 'puti 'fish bought from the market. After strangling his wife to death, the husband himself went to the police station again to report the incident.
This happened on Saturday afternoon in Uttar Trish village of Companiganj Bazar area of Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla .
The killer, husband Bashir Uddin (35), is the son of the Abdul Matin of Sahapur village of Nabinagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district.Mousumi Akhter (29), is the daughter of the Gias Uddin of Nabipur village of Debidwar upazila.
According to local sources, Bashir Uddin worked as a representative of a medicine company in Companiganj area of Muradnagar upazila. He has been renting the house of Alal Miah of Uttar Trish village for the past two and a half years.
On Saturday afternoon, Bashir Uddin bought some fish from the Companyganj market. As soon as he went home with the fish, his wife, Mousumi Akhter, threw the fish at her husband, saying that she would not be able to cut the fish. Enraged, Bashir Uddin strangled his wife Mousumi Akhter and suffocated her to death. Later, he himself went to Muradnagar police station and reported the murder of his wife to the police.
Upon arriving at the police station, Bashir Uddin said the police that he married Mousumi Akhter nine years ago as a family. They have 4-year-old twins, a boy and a girl. He also said that during their long marriage, his wife Mousumi Akhter used to constantly torment him mentally. However, he had no prior plan to kill his wife. When she threw the fish brought from the market at him, he could not control himself and strangled her to death.
Alal, the owner of the house of the deceased, Bashir Uddin, said, "They have been renting my house for two and a half years. I have seen Bashir Uddin as a very good person. We have not seen any family feud between them so far. I do not understand why this murder happened. He may have done it after being deceived by the devil."
Muradnagar Police Station OC Zahidur Rahman said, "When Bashir Uddin appeared at the police station around Saturday afternoon and told me that he had killed his wife, I did not believe him at first. Later, after investigating, I came to know that the incident was true. The body has been recovered from the scene and brought to the police station for an autopsy. Bashir Uddin is in the custody of the police station and the case is ongoing."
