Dhanmondi road renamed after July martyr Farhan Faiyaz

Staff Correspondent

The old road no 27 in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi has been renamed as Shahid Farhan Faiyaz Sarak, in memory of Mohammad Farhanul Islam Bhuiyan, widely known as Farhan Faiyaz, a student who was killed during the July movement last year.

Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Md Shahjahan Mia, unveiled the commemorative plaque on Saturday in front of Rapa Plaza, where the road begins.

Farhan’s father Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan along with teachers from Dhaka Residential Model College was present at the ceremony.

Farhan, an eleventh-grade student at Dhaka Residential Model College, was shot dead on July 18 last year during a protest between Rapa Plaza and Genetic Plaza in Dhanmondi.

He had been at the forefront of the student movement that day.
