History in the Making: A Dream Comes True :
Dhaka Imperial College shines as a beacon in Bangladesh’s educational landscape. Founded in 1995 in the heart of the capital, it was born from the vision of dreamers—forward-thinking, devoted educators determined to establish a values-driven institution offering quality higher secondary and undergraduate education. What began as a humble dream has now grown into a mighty tree of knowledge and excellence.
The Pioneers behind the Story :
This remarkable journey began with the dedication and foresight of visionary leaders such as the late M. A. Malek FCA, Waliullah FCA, Sri Sadesh Ranjan Saha FCA, Mazharul Islam, founding Principal Professor Latifur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman Masum, Professor Mostafa Kamal, and Zubayer Ahmed Khan. Among them, one name stands out—Mahfuzul Haque Shahin, the dreamer and the soul behind this noble mission.
Founding teachers who remain active even today—Razaul Karim Bhuiyan, Waliullah, and Nazmul Haque Hakkani—continue to embody the spirit of Imperial through their tireless dedication and values-based leadership.
Built on Solid Foundations :
The idea of establishing an ideal educational institution was first kindled by M. A. Malek FCA, who shared the dream with Waliullah FCA and Sadesh Ranjan Saha FCA. Simultaneously, Mazharul Islam proposed the concept of founding a new college to Mahfuzul Haque Shahin who recently leaving Dhaka commerce college, Mr. Shahin recognized the potential of this initiative and joined hands with the team. Professor Mostafa Kamal had coordinate with the three chartered accountants. These 3 CAs took responsibility for funding the institution.
Professor Latifur Rahman named the college—symbolizing the union of education and values. The motto, “Read in the name of thy Creator,” proposed by M. A. Malek, continues to guide the institution's philosophy.
Leadership That Lit the Way :
From its founding until 2012, Mahfuzul Haque Shahin was the guiding force behind Dhaka Imperial College. Under his visionary leadership, the institution flourished—from its humble beginnings to a symbol of academic excellence. His influence is deeply embedded in every success story of the college.
Following his passing, the founding teachers carried the torch forward. More than educators, they became the very heart of Imperial. Their continued leadership, alongside committed faculty and staff, has kept the college on its path of excellence.

For nearly three decades, Dhaka Imperial College has been a beacon of educational excellence in the capital. This self-financed institution, established through a collective vision and strong commitment, has played a unique role in meeting the educational needs of the local community, complementing the government's efforts. Despite being a non-MPO institution, it boasts a modern six-story campus spanning 25 kathas in Aftabnagar, Badda, complete with spacious classrooms and well-equipped laboratories.
Unparalleled Academic Achievements :
The college's 30-year journey is marked by continuous success. Its legacy of merit list achievements began in 1999 when Mahmudul Hasan secured the 8th position in the Dhaka Education Board. In the same year, three students ranked 3rd, 4th, and 9th in the Technical Education Board. In 2002, Abdullah Al Mamun clinched the 5th position in the Business Studies group. Since then, the college has never looked back. Achieving a GPA-5 has become a hallmark of its students. As educators often say, "Dhaka Imperial College admits students of iron, copper, and silver quality, but they emerge as gold." This consistent success is largely due to its 100% pass rate in the Higher Secondary Examinations every year, a testament to the institution's discipline, teachers' hard work, and dedicated instruction.

This remarkable success is fueled by the tireless efforts of 77 talented, dedicated, and experienced teachers. Their profound knowledge, sincere guidance, and commitment to nurturing students' potential are key to achieving top examination results. Beyond academic learning, the college emphasizes moral values and discipline, fostering a 'star-quality' learning environment. The college's significant achievements and reputation in preparing students for the challenging Eleventh and Twelfth-grade curricula and examinations are widely recognized in the education sector.
Success in Higher Education and Alumni Pride :
The quality of education at Dhaka Imperial College is evident in its alumni's achievements. Graduates consistently gain admission to prestigious institutions like Dhaka University, BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology), various medical colleges, and other engineering universities. Over the past 30 years, the institution has laid the foundation of knowledge for approximately sixty thousand students. These alumni are not only serving as teachers in renowned public universities across the country but are also making their mark in international organizations such as NASA.
Leading Role in Social Awareness :
Dhaka Imperial College's contributions extend beyond academics. In 2019, students from the college initiated the historic Safe Road Movement. More recently, in the 2024 Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the college's talented students played a significant role, with two students making unique contributions to public awakening through their sacrifices.
Efficient Leadership :
Currently, the college is led by the esteemed education enthusiast and prominent Professor of the Institute of Education and Research at Dhaka University, Dr. S. M. Hafizur Rahman, serving as President. Professor Dr. Nazmul Ahsan is serving as an enthusiastic member of the governing body and Associate Professor Nazimul Haque Haqqani is the Principal in charge. Delowar Hussain serving as vice principal Under their capable leadership, the institution continues to thrive.
Currently, around 3,500 students are studying at Dhaka Imperial College in the Eleventh and Twelfth Grades, as well as in the BBA (Honours) program offered in five subjects.
