Dhaka Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ms. Farida Khanom has stepped forward to support Sujan, a youth who was permanently crippled after being critically injured during the July mass uprising.

Considering his severe familial and financial distress, the Deputy Commissioner provided immediate financial assistance and assured him of arranging a permanent employment opportunity in the future.

Sujan shared his helpless situation at the Dhaka Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday.

Having sustained severe injuries during the July movement, he is no longer able to move normally. Being the sole breadwinner of his family, his sudden unemployment has plunged them into a deep crisis. He revealed that his father is bedridden following a stroke, and he also bears the responsibility of his divorced sister. Furthermore, with his wife currently expecting a child, the burden of medical expenses and household maintenance has intensified significantly. Upon receiving his application under such dire circumstances, DC Farida Khanom scrutinized his statements and necessary documentation before immediately handing over the financial aid.

Deputy Commissioner Ms. Farida Khanom said that both the state and society bear a profound responsibility toward those who sacrificed their lives or were injured in the July movement.

She noted that the administration is constantly trying to stand by them from a humanitarian perspective. Describing Sujan's current situation as extremely painful, she reiterated that alongside immediate cash assistance, the administration will take initiatives to secure a permanent livelihood for him. She added that the Prime Minister always stands by helpless and distressed citizens, and the district administration is merely carrying out its humanitarian duty in line with that vision.

Receiving the financial aid, an emotional Sujan expressed that life had come to a complete standstill after he was injured in the July movement. He stated that looking at his stroke-ridden father, his divorced sister, and his pregnant wife made him feel utterly helpless.

He mentioned that despite knocking on many doors, it was the Deputy Commissioner who finally listened to his plight with deep attention, providing not just financial relief but also a concrete promise of future employment, which has brought a new ray of hope to his family.

Relevant high-ranking officials from the Deputy Commissioner's office were present on the occasion.
