Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam has secured the first position at the national level for collecting the highest amount of Zakat during the 2024-25 fiscal year.

The recognition was officially announced in a recent notification issued by the Zakat Fund Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, signed by its Director, Md. Abdul Hamid Khan.

According to the notification, the feat was achieved during her prior tenure as the Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram, where her leadership led to the highest countrywide mobilization of government Zakat Fund.

Religious Ministry sources said, Chattogram district administration, under Farida Khanam's guidance, launched comprehensive awareness campaigns, coordination meetings, and motivational programmes.

These initiatives were designed to make government Zakat management more effective, transparent, and public-oriented, which significantly boosted public participation and overall collections.

Officials said, the active involvement of district administrations is crucial for strengthening Zakat-based social safety nets, adding that the model established by the Chattogram administration serves as an exemplary standard for other districts to emulate.

Farida Khanam, who is currently serving as the DC of Dhaka, is widely recognized for her administrative efficiency and public welfare-oriented initiatives.

Responding to the recognition, she emphasized the transformative potential of institutional Zakat management.

"The Zakat fund can play a vital role in strengthening the government's social security programs. If Zakat funds are delivered to the actual beneficiaries through proper management, it can bring lasting, positive changes to society," she said.
She added that the achievement would serve as an inspiration for her future endeavors.

"Working for the welfare of the people is our core objective. I will continue to discharge my duties with the utmost sincerity and dedication in all public service activities," she added.
