Dhaka-Chittagong Highway's Cumilla Region Eid Yatra eases fears of traffic jams

People are returning home with relief during the Eid Yatra. Due to this, the pressure of vehicles is gradually increasing on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway. Although the traffic is slow in the traffic jam-prone areas of the 105-kilometer Cumilla section of the highway, there is no permanent jam. Along with the Highway Police, the Army is on the road to prevent crime by setting up check posts to ensure the smooth journey of people heading home for Eid. Rover Scouts and Ansar members are also assisting.
There are 12 hotspots on the Cumilla section of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway that are prone to traffic jams. Where traffic jams are caused due to various irregularities including vehicles moving in the opposite direction, passengers standing on the highway and pedestrians crossing the road without using the footover bridge. Therefore, the Highway Police and the Army have deployed additional manpower to curb these crimes. More than 1,000 police members, more than 200 Rover Scout members and Army and Ansar members are deployed in the 105-kilometer area.
On Thursday, after searching from the Daudkandi Toll Plaza on the highway to the last boundary of Chauddagram, it was found that there was no jam anywhere in the 12 hotspots.
However, temporary jams are occasionally created when some local minibuses stand on the road to pick up and drop off passengers and when goods are picked up in the markets. The police and the Army are taking immediate action.
Asia Transport passenger Mir Mosharraf Hossain came from Dhaka and got off at the Chandina bus stand area. He said that he had returned home for the Eid holidays. I thought that Chittagong Road, Madanpur, Sonagaon, Daudkandi and Chandina would be in traffic jams. But that scene was not seen. Even though the bus was moving a little slowly, the journey was completely comfortable.
Hasan Ali Tuser , a student, is going to Feni to celebrate Eid with her parents and family members. This Star Line Paribahan passenger said that she is returning home with relief after overcoming all fears. No traffic jams or criminal activities were seen anywhere. There was a heavy presence of the army and police at various intersections or important places on the road. This seems to be more than expected.
Major Saniul Alam of the 12th Bir Battalion of the 33rd Infantry Division in Cumilla said that the army members are working by identifying the causes of traffic jams on the road and setting up check posts at the hotspots. Even so, action is being taken with the help of the highway police against unscrupulous drivers and transporters who violate the road and traffic laws. This activity of the army will continue for the smooth journey of people heading home for Eid.
