Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Thursday said in matters concerning climate change and sustainability, all development partners should come on a single platform to prevent resource fragmentation.
“To maximise resource utilisation, duplication and overlapping should be minimised. With numerous challenges and existential threats posed by climate change, securing resources, both financial and for capacity building, is essential.”
The environment minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at the Dissemination Workshop for the Country Environmental Analysis 2023: Building Back a Greener Bangladesh, hosted at the Intercontinental Hotel in Dhaka.
“The nation’s health is paramount, and the government is committed to enhancing air and water quality. Priority interventions for climate action are being sequenced, and the government is actively formulating a time-bound plan. Policy adjustments will be made as necessary to address emerging needs,” he said.
During the workshop, Minister Chowdhury emphasised the importance of sustainable practices and highlighted initiatives aimed at fostering a greener future for Bangladesh.
Abdoulaye Seck, the World Bank's Country Director for Bangladesh and Additional Secretary (Environment) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change also spoke among others.
The event brought together stakeholders from various sectors to discuss strategies for environmental preservation and sustainable development.
The workshop featured presentations and discussions on key findings from the Country Environmental Analysis 2023 report, focusing on challenges and opportunities in advancing environmental conservation efforts.
Participants engaged in productive dialogue, exchanging ideas to address pressing environmental issues and promote eco-friendly practices across the country.
