BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said India constructed barbed wire fences at 160 places on its border along Bangladesh as deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina gave advantage to India.

"Sheikh Hasina gave many facilities to India from 2010 to 2023. Because of that, India did many uneven activities.

Bilateral issues between two independent nations can be settled through discussions. Without doing so, India forcibly constructed barbed wire fences" he said.

Rizvi said these while addressing a doa mahfil at BNP's Nayapaltan central office seeking early recovery of party chief Begum Khaleda Zia.

Jatiyatabadi Rickshaw-Van Auto-Rickshaw Chalak Sramik Dal organized programme with its leader Alamgir Hossain Montu in the chair.

BNP Chairperson's Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and party leader Abdus Sattar Patwari also spoke.

Rizvi said bilateral issues can be resolved through discussions but Sheikh Hasina weakened Bangladesh sovereignty by supporting barbed wire fencing by India on its border in 160 places along Bangladesh.

He said India has constructed barbed wire fencing covering over 3,000 kilometers along Bangladesh as around only 856-857 kilometers are left.

India is not following international rules and regulations and agreements and discussions between the two countries, he said.

Rizvi said India have tried to construct barbed wire fences in various places including Larmonirhat, without even accepting the fact that there should be no development plan within 150 yards of zero line or discussions should be held between the two countries before doing such activities.

"For this reason, the people of Bangladesh have been able to take on the role of border guards and build strong resistance against the BSF, which has become an example.

But Sheikh Hasina did not allow this during her tenure. She worked as a servant of India by carrying out fascism, ruthlessness and cruelty on people," he said.

The BNP leader said Sheikh Hasina and her family have carried out looting and occupied lands wherever they want.

"Sheikh Hasina took allotment of 60 kathas of land in the name of her family in Purbachal. Her family alone laundered Taka 80, 000 crore abroad.

As no one can talk about her corruption, they wanted to keep Begum Khaleda Zia confined into jail in false cases and gradually kill her," he said.

Rizvi also recalled the role of rickshaw-van pullers and auto-rickshaw drivers in the students-led mass uprising.
