BNP Chairperson’s Advisor, former Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation and ex-MP, Mizanur Rahman Minu, said that the multiparty democracy established by Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman for the people of Bangladesh will once again be firmly reestablished in the coming days.

He made these remarks on Friday  at 11:00 AM while addressing a Doa and food distribution event organized in front of the Shah Makhdum Shrine in Rajshahi, marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of former President Ziaur Rahman.

In his speech, Minu stated, “Regardless of what anyone says, the people of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting for an election. We hope that a national election will be held by December, and if Allah gives the soldiers of Zia's ideology a chance, we will defend the country’s independence and sovereignty.”

He further added, today, Tarique Rahman is leading the movement with the ideals of Shaheed Zia and Begum Khaleda Zia. 

The doa and food distribution program was organized by the Rajshahi District and Metropolitan Freedom Fighters’ Wing of BNP. The event was presided over by Nazrul Islam Khoka, President of the District Freedom Fighters' Wing, and conducted by Abul Kalam Azad Sweet, former President of Rajshahi Metropolitan Jubo Dal. Other notable attendees included Boalia Thana BNP’s former President Saidur Rahman Pintu and General Secretary Robiul Alam Milu.

Meanwhile, BNP and its affiliated organizations also observed Ziaur Rahman’s death anniversary with due honor in Mohonpur upazila of Rajshahi. Programs included a discussion meeting, voluntary blood donation drive, food distribution, and special prayers.

At 10:30 AM, Mohonpur Upazila BNP organized the discussion meeting and blood donation program. Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, BNP’s Assistant Secretary for Relief and Rehabilitation, was present as the chief guest and delivered a speech commemorating the life and contributions of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.
