Demand for speedy trial of rape accused in Rangamati

The general student body has held protest marches and demonstrations against the ongoing rape, kidnapping and terrorism across the country.

On Wednesday, they gathered at 11 am and took out a protest march in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office. After the protest march circled several roads in the city, the general student body submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, addressed to the Chief Advisor.

Speakers at the rally demanded speedy trial of those accused of rape. At the same time, they called for normalizing the law and order situation across the country and taking action against kidnapping and terrorist activities.

The rally was moderated by Physics Department (Hons. 4th year) student Md. Shahidul Islam, while speeches were delivered by eminent social worker and student advisor Md. Kamal Uddin, eminent social worker Jui Chakma, Students Tanzina Akhter, Department of Political Science (Honours 2nd year), Dipta Chakma, HSC 2024, Hossain Mallick, Department of English (Honours 3rd year), Md. Saimun Islam, Department of Management (Honours 3rd year), Md. Imam Hossain, Department of Mathematics (Honours 3rd year), Wahiduzzaman Roman and Department of Mathematics (Honours 4th year).
