
Demand for distribution of winter clothes

Like the rest of the country, Gobindganj has also disrupted people's lives due to the increasing intensity of winter due to fog and cold winds in Konkan. The suffering of the poor and low-income people has reached its peak in bone-chilling winter. In Konkan, the worst victims of winter are children and the elderly, along with daily wage labourers.
The face of the sun could not be seen for the last 2 days due to heavy fog. Even if the sun is visible for 2/3 hours in the afternoon, it is said that the heat of the sun is not there. People have been overwhelmed by the severe winter in JK. Common people are trying to beat the winter by burning straw in different places.
A heavy rush has also been noticed in hot clothes shops. Most seen in hawkers market. The shopkeepers have increased the price of warm clothes in order to increase the demand. Dhunkars' shops were also crowded to make the coating. Meanwhile, as the evening descends, the entire city including the surrounding area is covered in thick fog. People are also entering house to house.
As a result, the city becomes empty by 8/9 pm. No one wants to venture outside the home unless absolutely necessary. Due to fog most of the day various vehicles have to move at slow speed with their head lights on. Due to heavy fog and severe cold in the morning, day laborers and working people are unable to go to work to sell their labor. As a result, they have to face the problem of running the household expenses.
The condition of cattle, cows, goats and chickens is also deplorable. In severe winter they are suffering from various diseases. The poor poor people have demanded distribution of sufficient winter clothes.
Meanwhile, various cold-related diseases including diarrhea and dysentery have appeared among children and the elderly. Pneumonia, shortness of breath and asthma have occurred.
On the other hand, due to thick fog and cold currents, farmers' potato fields and various winter vegetables including Boro paddy are being destroyed. Seedlings of Boro rice are turning yellow and dying. Various diseases including late blight have appeared in potatoes.
In this regard, Upazila Agriculture Officer Syed Reza I Mahmud said that farmers are being given necessary advice and assistance in protecting and planting boro seedbeds and protecting potatoes and vegetables in winter and fog. Conscious people have demanded distribution of sufficient winter clothes from the administration in this severe winter.
