One dead deer, 16 kg of deer meat and 500 feet of deer hunting trap have been recovered by the members of Kadamtala forest station office of Satkhira range during raids in Sundarbans on Monday.

Forest Department officials said that around 9:30 a.m. last Sunday, the forest workers under the leadership of Kadamtala Forest Station Officer (SO) Sulaiman Hossain conducted a raid in Aar Duni Canal area near Hatibhanga River in Gohin Sundarbans and recovered the goods. The hunters fled to the Sundarbans on sensing the presence of the forest personnel.

Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) of Satkhira Range, Md. Moshiur Rahman confirmed the truth and said that the forest workers were able to recover the dead deer, deer meat and traps after receiving secret information, but the hunters could not be arrested.

A case has been filed under the Forest Act. Efforts to identify and arrest poachers are ongoing. The seized meat has been sent to the Satkhira court.
