Cultural Minister, State Minister visit ailing Nazrul Sangeet artist Shabnam Mushtari; provide financial aid

Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury and State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam visited renowned Nazrul Sangeet artist and Ekushey Padak recipient Shabnam Mushtari at her residence in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, on Saturday.
The artist has been battling age-related complications and complex dementia for an extended period.
During the visit, the ministers spent considerable time with the ailing artist, inquired about the state of her ongoing treatment, and offered consolation to her family members. To assist with her urgent medical expenses, they handed over a cheque for Tk 5,00,000 on behalf of the "Shilpi Kalyan Trust" under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
Sayela Khanam, DGM of the Shilpi Kalyan Trust, and close relatives of the artist were present during the visit.
Shabnam Mushtari, who received the Ekushey Padak in 1997 for her outstanding contribution to Nazrul Sangeet and the Nazrul Award in 2015, is the eldest daughter of the distinguished poet Talim Hossain and the noted litterateur and journalist Begum Mafruha Chowdhury.
