Cracks have developed on both sides of various regional and rural roads in Porsha upazila of Naogaon. Branches and leaves of various trees have come onto the road in some places.
There is no space on either side of the roads. Pedestrians are seen moving along the main road. Even when vehicles arrive, pedestrians have no place to stand or walk on the side of the road. Due to the bushes, there is no opportunity to see whether any transport is coming from the opposite direction at bends on the road.
As a result, minor accidents almost occur. However, pedestrians are afraid of major accidents at any time. It has been seen that bushes have grown on both sides of the roads and created a jungle. Both sides of the road are covered with weeds and branches of various trees. Vehicles are moving almost side by side and while driving on these roads, vehicles cannot see from one side to the other.
Trees and vines have fallen on the roads in many parts. The growth of bushes is making it difficult for vehicles to move. Due to this, minor road accidents are happening all the time. It is very difficult to move on the curved parts of the roads and at the intersections. Pedestrians Abdur Rahim, Kamal Hossain, Humayun Kabir and many others said that since the part of the road where people walk is filled with jungle, people are moving on the main road. There is no way for any vehicle to move aside. This can lead to major accidents at any time.
They feel that the bushes on both sides of the expressway need to be cleared. On the regional road, bus driver Abdur Rahman and truck driver Kabir Hossain said that various types of small trees on both sides of the road have grown above the road. It is not possible to see whether anyone is coming from the side of the road or whether any animals are crossing.
Many times, various animals fall under the wheels of vehicles and get into accidents. In addition, due to the bends in many places on the road, cars cannot be seen from the other side.
As a result, accidents also occur. Auto charger van driver Hamidul Islam said that they have trouble driving their vans as the roads are filled with bushes on both sides. Meanwhile, pedestrians have no place to walk, and during the day, cows and goats suddenly come out of the bushes and fall in front of them. As a result, it becomes difficult to control the vehicles. They believe that if the bushes on the side of the road are not cleared, a major accident can happen at any time.
Hamidul Haque, executive engineer of the Naogaon District Road Department, said that it was not possible to cut and clear the bushes on both sides of the road due to rain. This is their routine work. They said they will start clearing the bushes along the road when the rain subsides.
