Serious allegation including negligence of duty, abuse of power and corruption have been raised against Mostafizur Rahman Liton, the Emergency In-Charge of Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital in Tongi, Gazipur.
According to sources, although the usual tenure for an in-charge position is two years, Mostafizur Rahman Liton has been occupying the same post for four consecutive years.
Accusations against him include using political affiliations to exert influence and engaging in financial transactions with patients’ relatives.
Complainants claim that despite being a Class-II government employee, he has purchased land in Uttara Kamarpara and constructed a luxurious four-storey building. The construction allegedly lacked proper approval, sparking questions among locals about the source of his wealth.
In 2017, allegations of dual employment were brought against him. Additionally, on November 30, 2020, a woman named Morsheda filed a written complaint against him at Tongi East Police Station.
A recently circulated video on social media has further intensified discussions, showing him involved in an argument related to money transactions.
Criticism has also surfaced regarding a condolence post he uploaded on August 9, just days after the change in government on August 5. Local journalists have reported that they were threatened when attempting to gather information.
When asked, Mostafizur Rahman Liton denied all allegations , saying, “These accusations are baseless and politically motivated. A conspiracy is being orchestrated against me.”
Concerned citizens have called for a proper investigation and legal action if the allegations are proven true.
