Under the auspices of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the construction work of Mujib Kella is going on at Rawtha in Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi. After the construction of this fort is completed, the affected families of the river erosion area will benefit.

According to the information provided by Charghat Upazila Project Implementation Officer (PIO) Shamim Ahmmed, the construction work of Mujibkella started on February 19.

The construction work will be completed on November 30, 2025. The price of which is 8 crore 11 lakh 76 thousand taka. However, the contract price is 7 crore 41 lakh 16 thousand 3 hundred taka. This fort has 01 buildings with 3 floors. This building is 16 thousand 200 square feet. Cattle accommodation is available on the ground floor.

The remaining 2 floors will have 6 rooms of 3 each. 2,500 people can take shelter here during various natural calamities. This building has ramp attachment up to 3 floors for which disabled people can go up and down as per their convenience. Besides, there is a 1-storey cattle shed. This shed is 7,530 square feet. This shed is 78 feet long and 47 feet wide. There will be 2 community spaces and 500 men and women can take shelter. Besides, there is provision for keeping cattle.

When asked about the progress of the ongoing construction work, he told to correspondent of the newspaper that Mrs. Rumana Enterprise is working on the construction of this building. The building is being constructed nearby Rawtha College under this upazila. A total of 60 piles of 64 feet length of this building have been completed. Each piling is done with stone. In response to the question of irregularities, he said that since the PIO took charge in this upazila, there has been no complaint of corruption till date. However, there may be some error deviations while working on the absent brain.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saidha Khanam said, this Mujibkella is a blessing for the river erosion area. Rajshahi district is located on the banks of Padma River. Several families of Godagari, Paba, Charghat and Bagha upazilas of the district are living with their families in the Char area of the river. In particular, most of the residential houses and agricultural lands of Charghat upazila have been lost in the river.

The previous history bears the proof of this. The construction of this building is being monitored from the beginning. The concerned are supervising to keep the quality of work correct. Finally, UNO said, various developments are ongoing with the support of Charghat-Bagha MP.
