A clash broke out between two groups at the Joypurhat Government College Branch Chhatra Dal council. Seven people, including a policeman, were injured in the incident on Friday.
The injured are Chhatra Dal leader Tamim (22), Ariful Islam (25), Shahriar Kabir (23), Rafi (26), Swayeb Hossain (24), Sohan Kabir (28) and police sub-inspector Ariful Islam (45). All of them are admitted to Joypurhat General Hospital.
Eyewitnesses said that a faction of the college Chhatra Dal, led by Sagar Chowdhury and Ahad Hossain, joint conveners of the college branch of Chhatra Dal, has been on strike since this morning. They brought sticks and sticks, saying that they would not allow anyone to enter the college to hold a council meeting.
During this time, they raised slogans like 'illegal council, don't accept it or you won't accept it', 'boycott boycott, Team-16 boycott', 'unilateral council, don't accept it or you won't accept it', 'council in exchange for money, don't accept it or you won't accept it'. A heated situation developed around this council in the college area. The central leaders could not hold the council at 3 pm as one party took a stand in the college.
Around 4:30 pm, another group led by College Chhatra Dal leader Habibur Rahman took a procession towards the college gate. At this time, a chase started between the two groups. When some people were injured, the leaders and activists sent them to the hospital.
Joypurhat Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Nazmul Quader said that a policeman was injured in the exchange of fire between the two factions of the Chhatra Dal. In addition, several members of the Chhatra Dal were injured. They are admitted to the hospital.
