Coast Guard seized illegal trawling boat, fish, detained 17 near St. Martin's Island

Bangladesh Coast Guard seized an illegal artisanal trolling boat, six trolling nets, and 700 kilograms of sea fish, arresting 17 fishermen during an drive off the coast of St. Martin's Island in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon said this in a press release on Saturday evening.
According to the official, Coast Guard Station St. Martin conducted a special operation in the northwestern sea area of St. Martin's Island under Teknaf Police Station at 11:00 AM on Saturday based on secret information. During the drive, Coast Guard personnel intercepted and seized an illegal artisanal trolling boat operating in the area.
A subsequent search of the vessel yielded six trolling nets and approximately 700 kilograms of marine fish with an estimated market value of Tk 2.10 lakh, along with the arrest of 17 fishermen on board.
Legal proceedings regarding the seized vessel, equipment, confiscated fish, and the 17 detained individuals have been taken.
