
Coast Guard provides medical assistance to pregnant woman in Dacope

Bangladesh Coast Guard has provided medical assistance to pregnant woman in Dacope Upazila amid adverse weather.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-ar-Rashid disclosed this information in a press release on Friday morning.
The release said, due to the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal, a dangerous situation has developed in the river. In such circumstances, a ban has been imposed on all types of vessel movement in coastal and inland waterways for the safety of passengers.
At 4:40 PM on Thursday, labor pains began for a local pregnant woman, Sharifa Begum (28), from Kalabogi village of Dacope Police Station in Khulna, and she urgently needed to be transferred to Dacope Upazila Health Complex. Subsequently, her family members informed Coast Guard Station Nalian about the matter. Considering the situation, with the approval of the appropriate authorities and under the direction of the Station Commander, the Coast Guard promptly prepared a boat and transported the woman from Kalabogi in Dacope to Chalna Ghat. Due to the skilled and prompt action of the Coast Guard, Sharifa Begum, suffering from labor pains amid adverse weather, could be safely transferred to the Upazila Health Complex.
Later, Sharifa Begum gave birth to a baby boy; both mother and newborn are in good health.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard has been conducting various activities in the service of humanity, alongside ensuring the security of coastal and riverine areas. The mentioned incident is a notable example of this. The Coast Guard has always been engaged in public service and will continue this commitment in the future.
