
Coast Guard conducting sanctuary conservation drives

Bangladesh Coast Guard has been playing an active role in conducting Sanctuary Conservation Campaign-2024, says a press release.
Since its inception, Bangladesh Coast Guard has been conducting operations at various times for the purpose of conservation of fisheries resources including smuggling, drug control in the areas under its jurisdiction.
The Jatka Protection Program 2024 is being conducted for two months from 1st March to 30th April 2024 in Abhayashram area to prevent Jatka extermination by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Harvesting, transportation, stocking, marketing and sale of fish will be prohibited during Sanctuary Conservation Program-2024.
On this occasion, Bangladesh Coast Guard is playing an active role in conducting the Abhayashram Conservation Campaign-2024. The Coast Guard is doing various campaigns to increase public awareness among fishermen and fish traders.
On Friday , the Bangladesh Coast Guard is conducting patrolling operations in the Meghna River at Chandpur and the Meghna and Tentulia rivers at Bhola on Day 1 of the Sanctuary Conservation Mission. The Coast Guard is keeping a round-the-clock vigil to ensure that fishing trawlers do not leave the fishing grounds.
He also said that in addition to ensuring law and order control, robbery suppression and public safety in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard, Coast Guard patrols continue and will continue for 24 hours to protect mother fish in coastal and river areas, including illegal fishing, killing jatka, and mother hilsa.
