CHT Minister condoles demise of Buddhist leader Venerable Sumanalankar Mahathero

Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Saching Prue, MP, has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the passing of the prominent Buddhist spiritual leader, social thinker, and philanthropist Venerable Sumanalankar Mahathero, who was the visionary and founding president of the Parbatya Bouddha Mission (PBM).
In a condolence message on Saturday, CHT Minister Saching Prue said, "Venerable Sumanalankar Mahathero was a noble monk dedicated to religion, education, human service, and social welfare.
Highlighting the late monk's vision, the minister added, "Guided by the teachings of amity, compassion, and wisdom, Venerable Sumanalankar Mahathero worked dedicatedly for the welfare of humanity throughout his life. Under his visionary initiative, the Parbatya Bouddha Mission was established in 1983, which subsequently led to the creation of various welfare institutions, including orphanages, residential high schools, Pali colleges, Vipassana meditation centers, ICT training institutes, and a Medical Assistant Training Institute.
He paid his humble respects to the late monk, praying for the eternal peace and salvation of his departed soul in light of the compassionate teachings of the Supreme Buddha.
