Christmas celebrated amid festivities in Bandarban

On the occasion of "Christmas," the birthday of Jesus Christ, the Christian community in various Christian neighborhoods of Bandarban is immersed in the joy of the festival.
Throughout the hilly district, Christian-dominated areas have come alive with religious rituals, prayers, illuminations, and cultural arrangements.
On the occasion of Christmas, special midnight prayers and religious worship were held in various churches across Bandarban Sadar, Ruma, Rowangchhari, Alikadam, Thanchi, Lama, and Naikhongchhari.
Since Thursday (Dec 25) morning, men, women, and children have been gathering at the Fatima Rani Church in the district town and other churches. Alongside prayers, religious discussions were held to highlight the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ. Additionally, chorus songs and drama performances by children and teenagers at the churches were the center of attraction.
Meanwhile, a festive atmosphere prevails in the Christian neighborhoods surrounding the celebration. Houses and churches have been decorated with lights, colored paper, flowers, and Christmas trees. Special meals have been organized for families and relatives, where traditional hill food is served alongside cakes and various sweets. The distribution of gifts for children and joyful gatherings have added even more color to the festivities.
Local Christian community leaders stated that Christmas carries a message of peace, love, and humanity. On this day, they called upon everyone to awaken feelings of empathy and brotherhood toward one another. To ensure the festival proceeds without interruption, security measures have been strengthened by the administration.
