The foundation stone for a new Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) buffer warehouse has been officially laid in the Munshidangi area of Dikrir Char in the suburbs of Faridpur. Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, Member of Parliament for the Faridpur-3 constituency, inaugurated the construction site on Monday noon.

The facility is being constructed as part of a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Industries to build 34 buffer warehouses to improve fertilizer storage and distribution infrastructure. The Faridpur hub, which boasts a storage capacity of approximately 10,000 metric tons, is estimated to cost over BDT 48 crore.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf, MP, stated that the government's objective is to establish modern and sustainable infrastructure to secure the supply and storage of agricultural fertilizers. He added that once completed, local farmers will receive fertilizers in a more timely manner, while transparency and efficiency within the distribution network will significantly improve. Describing the project as a major step toward modernizing agricultural management, the lawmaker highlighted that the 34 nationwide warehouses would collectively bring a qualitative transformation to the country's agricultural sector.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Faridpur District Council Chairman Afzal Hossain Khan Palash, Faridpur District BNP Member Secretary AKM Kibria Swapan, Rubel Chowdhury, and Abdus Salam Bachchu, the proprietor of the contracting firm. Also present were Metropolitan Jubo Dal President Benazir Ahmed Tabriz, General Secretary Ali Rezwan Biswas Tarun, District Krishak Dal President Rezaul Islam, BNP leaders Rubel Ahmed Dulal, Emdad Hossain Emdad, Sajjad Hossain, and Humayun Kabir, alongside BCIC officials, government and private executives, and various local political dignitaries.

Prior to laying the foundation stone for the warehouse, Member of Parliament Chowdhury Nayab Yusuf Ahmed also inaugurated the construction of a 550-meter-long road in the Faridabad suburban area.
