Chinmoy Krishna Das : Bail hearing deferred by another month
Chattogram City Correspondent
The bail hearing for Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh United Sanatan Awakening Alliance, has been deferred by a month.
Despite being scheduled for Tuesday in the Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, no lawyer appeared on his behalf, prompting the court to reschedule the hearing for January 2.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, Mofizur Rahman, confirmed that the court made the decision following a preliminary hearing of the bail petition.
Heightened security measures were enforced in and around the court premises in anticipation of the hearing. Members of law enforcement were stationed across the area. However, Chinmoy Krishna Das was not presented before the court on the day.
Previously, on November 26, Chattogram's Sixth Metropolitan Magistrate, Kazi Shariful Islam, had rejected Chinmoy Krishna Das's bail petition and ordered him to be sent to jail in connection with a sedition case.
The deferment extends the uncertainty surrounding his bail, with the next hearing set for January 2. The case continues to be a focal point of controversy in both social and political circles.
