Child rape in Nazirpur: Family unable to file case for 4 days due to intervention of influential people

A first-grade student was raped by an old man named Md. Dinu Fakir (70) in Nazirpur, Pirojpur. The victim's family has not been able to file a case even after 4 days due to the intervention of local influential people.
The incident took place in Bhaijora village of Shankharikathi union of the upazila last Monday. The accused Dinu Fakir is the son of the deceased Firoz Fakir of the village.
The victim's father said that on the afternoon of the incident, his daughter was playing with other children in a field on the bank of a river near the accused's house. At that time, the accused lured her to a nearby bathroom and raped her. Later, after receiving the news, he went there and rescued the girl and brought her home. When he wanted to take legal action in this incident, the locals, including Jamaat leader Farhad, agreed to settle the matter.
Local Jamaat leader Farhad said, "The victims and the accused have come to me. However, they will settle the matter themselves. They are saying to give some money to the girl's father, and he will give it. 10,000 taka has also been deposited with local Wahab Fakir. He will give the rest of the money."
Nazirpur Police Station OC Mahmud Al Farid Bhuiyan said he has not received any complaint from the victim in this regard. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
