Child dies after being run over by trolley while visiting grandparents

A child named Sadiqul Islam (3) tragically died after being run over by a trolley while visiting his grandparents in Durgapur, Rajshahi.
The accident occurred around 9 am on Sunday (June 7) in Koyamajampur village of the upazila.
The deceased, Sadiqul Islam, was the son of Khurshed Alam of Taherpur area of Bagmara upazila. He had come to visit his maternal grandparents with his mother Sharmin Begum.
According to local sources, Sharmin Begum, daughter of the late Shamsur Rahman of Koyamazumpur Paschimpara, came to her father's house a few days ago with her son Sadiqul. They were standing by the road on Sunday morning on their way back to their home in Taherpur. At that time, a brick-laden trolley heading to Taherpur lost control and crushed the child, killing him on the spot.
After the accident, locals seized the trolley and beat up the driver. The driver was injured and was rescued and admitted to Durgapur Upazila Health Complex.
Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, the child's body was recovered.
Durgapur Police Station OC Panchanand Sarkar said, "The incident is very sad. Upon receiving the news of the accident, the police quickly went to the scene. Necessary legal proceedings are underway in this incident."
