Child dies, 3 injured in lightning strike in Pirgachha

A child named Shipon (10) died in a lightning strike in Pirgachha, Rangpur. Three people, including two other children, were injured in the incident.
The casualty incident took place at around 12:30 pm on Thursday in Pathak Shikar village of Kandi union of the upazila. The deceased Shipon is the son of Abdus Sattar Mia of that village.
According to the family of the deceased and local sources, the deceased Shipon was playing football with boys of the same age in an empty field next to his house. At that time, he died on the spot after being struck by lightning suddenly during the rain.
Of the other three injured in the incident, Shahin (38) has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. While Munna (12) and Shaon (13) have been treated locally.
