Child, bus driver killed in road accident on Chakaria highway

A horrific road accident occurred in the Medakachchhapiya Dhala area on the border of Dulhajara South and the beginning of Khutakhali Union in Chakaria upazila.
On Monday at around 3 pm, two passenger buses collided head-on on the highway. At that time, a child named Yahia and a bus driver were reported to have been killed and at least 21 others were injured in the road accident that occurred in Medakachchhapiya.
At least 10 people were seriously injured. Several people are in critical condition, sources said. It has been learned that the above two people, including a child, were killed in a head-on collision between two buses named Long-distance Evergreen Bus and Chakaria Service in Chakaria. The accident occurred at around 3 pm on Monday, June 8, in the Khutakhali Medhakachapia area of the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway. The injured have been rescued and sent to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex and nearby hospitals for treatment. Mahbubur Rahman, OC of Malumghat Highway Police Station, said that a child died at the scene of the accident.
Another person died later on the way to the hospital. The names and addresses of the deceased were not available. However, the deceased is believed to be the driver of the vehicle. He said that the condition of many of the injured is critical. The two vehicles have been seized.
