Chief returning officer, 10 returning officers appointed for DUCSU election

Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin from the Department of Botany has been appointed as the Chief Returning Officer for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. 

This appointment was made by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan, under Section 8(F) of the DUCSU Constitution. The appointment was approved om Monday in the Dhaka University Syndicate meeting.

To assist the Chief Returning Officer, nine additional Returning Officers have been appointed. They are: Prof Dr. A.S.M. Mohiuddin (Department of Soil, Water, and Environment), Prof Dr. Golam Rabbani (Institute of Social Welfare and Research) ,

 Prof Dr. Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoque (Department of Information Science and Library Management) , Prof Dr. Kazi Maruful Islam (Department of Development Studies), Prof Dr. Nasrin Sultana (Institute of Health Economics), Prof Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam (Shahidul Jahid) (Department of Banking and Insurance), Prof Dr. Tarik Monjur (Department of Bangla), Prof Dr. S.M. Shamim Reza (Department of Mass Communication and Journalism) and Associate Professor Sharmin Kabir (Institute of Education and Research)  

The returning officers, in consultation with the Vice-Chancellor, will determine the subsequent steps for conducting the election and advance the election process.

It is mentioned that while the previous DUCSU election had a six-member Election Commission, this time the number of commission members has been increased to a maximum of 10. This initiative has been taken to ensure transparency, acceptability, and overall support in conducting the election.
