Cancer, kidney, heart disease treatment center almost ready in Rangpur

A 460-bed modern cancer, kidney and heart disease treatment center is being launched. The ongoing construction work will be completed by December 2026, the authorities concerned have said. The progress of the construction work of the building was inspected by the Chief Engineer of the Department of Housing and Public Works, Mohammad Shamim Akhtar.
On Friday morning, he visited the construction site of the multi-storey building and, in addition to ensuring the quality of the work, gave instructions to complete the project within the stipulated time frame. He said that the construction work of this medical center is expected to be completed by December 2026. At this time, Brigadier General Ashiqur Rahman, Director of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Hospital, representatives of the concerned engineers and contracting organizations were present.
Immediately after the construction of the building is completed, medical activities will start by installing modern medical equipment and posting the necessary manpower. If this medical center is launched, the pressure of traveling to Dhaka to get advanced treatment will be reduced to a great extent, especially for patients from the northern region. Medical professionals believe that several lakhs of people will directly benefit from this.
The number of patients in Rangpur is increasing day by day. But in comparison, medical equipment and manpower are very less. There is additional pressure on Rangpur Medical Hospital. In this situation, the opening of this new medical center will increase the quality and scope of medical services. The director of Rangpur Medical Hospital further said, "Currently, this hospital has various problems. To handle the pressure of patients, it has become necessary to expand the hospital's space and infrastructure. The launch of the new project will ease that pressure to some extent.

As a result, patients had to go to Dhaka or abroad for advanced treatment. This resulted in time, money and physical hardship - all of which meant endless suffering for the patients.
The concerned people hope that this project under the Ministry of Health will bring not only the people of Rangpur but also the people of the surrounding districts under the ambit of advanced medical treatment.
