CA Yunus invites BNP for talks on June 2

Staff Correspondent

Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus has invited the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) for a dialogue on June 2 at the State Guest House Jamuna.

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed confirmed the invitation during a discussion meeting organized by the BNP’s farmers’ wing (Krishak Dal) in the capital today (May 31).

Salahuddin said, “Those who oppose elections are now branding BNP leaders as traitors and foreign agents. This is the reward we are getting for 17 years of sacrifice.”

He accused the current political establishment of creating divisions within the nation under the guise of fascism.

“A certain group is sowing discord in the country through deceptive fascist tactics,” he added.

Salahuddin said, “There is no lack of formalities in inviting us to talks. But in reality, nothing concrete has been achieved.”

He also said, “It’s all a show — mere bananas hung in the name of reform. Elections must be held before December. There is no justification for delaying it beyond that.”
