This time, the farmers had to suffer much for planting paddy seedlings as there was no rain since the beginning of the monsoon season. Although the Aman paddy seedlings have to be planted in the middle of Ashar, the farmers could not do it due to lack of rain. Farmers were in trouble with planting paddy. Despite the late rains, 100 percent of the Aman planting target has already been achieved.

Sylhet Agriculture Extension Department said that the target of Aman paddy in four districts of Sylhet was 4 lakh 3 thousand 280 hectares. Till October 17, 4 lakh 15 thousand 546 hectares of land has been cultivated in the region. The target of Aman plantation has been fixed on 1 lakh 40 thousand 600 hectares, but already Aman paddy has been planted on 1 lakh 46 thousand 473 hectares of land in Sylhet district. Which is more than the target.

According to Sylhet Agriculture Office sources, this year’s Aman planting target is 4,03,280 hectares of land in Sylhet region. Farmers are expecting a bumper yield of transplanted Aman this year as well.

While visiting, it was found that the farmers were passing a busy time in the fields of transplanted Aman surrounded by greenery. In order to keep the paddy plants healthy and to increase the production of paddy, the farmers are doing round-the-clock maintenance including clearing the grass, applying fertilizers and pesticides and perching. Due to occasional rains, the weather is favorable for Aman farming. So, the farmers are in a cheerful mood.

The sheaves will emerge from the seedlings after a few days. Then, the good smell will come out from the Aman fields. After that, golden rice will catch everyone’s attention. In a golden dream, the farmer’s empty bowl will be filled with rice. Laughter will bloom on the face of the farmers.

Fozor Ali, a farmer of Jalalpur Union in Dakshin Surma upazila, said, “Due to severe drought, we have planted seedlings late. But the weather is good for Aman cultivation and the crop is very good.

Deputy Director of Agricultural Extension Department Sylhet Region Kazi Mujibur Rahman, said, “Currently transplanted Aman paddy fields are full of green. We are constantly monitoring the paddy fields. Diseases are less in Aman fields due to the timely advice to farmers by sub-assistant agriculture officers at the field level.
