
Buddha Purnima celebrated in Bandarban

Buddha Purnima, the biggest festival of Buddhists, has been celebrated in Bandarban with great solemnity. Buddhists celebrate this Buddha Purnima through prayers and religious good deeds.
Today, Saturday (May 14) morning, Buddha Purnima begins with a colorful procession from Ujani Para Buddhist Monastery in Bandarban city. At this time a colorful procession came out and encircled the main roads of the city and gathered at the Rajguru Buddhist monastery.
After that, men and women present at the Ujani Para Buddhist monastery and give religious sermons at the end of various religious ceremonies, including offering of pinds (food), fruits and cash to the Buddhist monks, and sandal water on the roots of the Buddhist tree.
From the morning, various Buddhist monasteries, including children, teenagers, men and women, started walking in the Buddhist monastery. Devout Buddhist men and women pray to the Buddha for peace in this world and the next.
According to Buddhists, the full moon day of Baishakhi is associated with the Buddha's Trismriti. On this auspicious date Buddha was born, attained Bodhi or Siddhi and attained Mahaparinirvana. On this day, Buddhists bathe, wear clean clothes and worship the Buddha in the temple.
Mong Wei Pru, son of Bomang Raja, Sadar Upazila Women's Vice Chairman Yesa Pru, Municipal Councilor Mongmang Singh, District Council Administrative Officer Uchingmang Marma, Principal of Rajguru Buddhist Monastery Bhadanta Ketu Mahathero, Principal of Ujani Para Rajguru Bihar were present.
