BU announces budget of Tk 50.54 lakh for FY 2023-24

Barishal University (BU) has announced a budget of Tk 50.54 lakh for the financial year 2023-24.
It has been passed, said Subrata Kumar Bahadur, Deputy Director of the Finance and Accounts Department of the University. Compared to other times, the amount of allocation in the research sector has been increased this time.
This time, 1 crore 2 lakh taka have been allocated to the research sector, which is 2.018 percent of the total budget. Last year, the allocation for research was 82 lakh taka, which was 1.72 percent of the total budget.
It is known that the budget of the last financial year was 47 crore 43 lakh taka. This time with an increase of 3 crore 11 lakh taka, the total budget stands at 50 crore 54 lakh taka.
Of this, 43 crore 94 lakh rupees have been allocated from the University Grants Commission (UGC). Besides, the income from the university's own sector has been shown to be Tk 6 crore 60 lakh.
In the current budget, 31.16 million rupees have been allocated to the salary and allowances sector, which is 61.65 percent of the total budget. Besides, 14 crores 59 lakhs, which is 28.86 percent of the total budget for goods and services, 6 lakhs have been allocated for the health sector, which is 0.118 percent of the total budget.
In this regard, Subrata Kumar Bahadur, Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts Branch of Barishal University, said, "We have submitted a demand letter for the budget of Tk 633.5 million this year. But the UGC authorities have approved a budget of Tk 50.54 lakh."
