An inauguration ceremony was held at 11:30 am on Saturday  at the Integrated Central Repair Workshop in Gazipur for two air-conditioned buses manufactured under Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation’s (BRTC) own financing and management

The chief guest at the event was.Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges), Sheikh Moinuddin. Special guest was the Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, while the event was presided over by BRTC Chairman Mr. Abdul Latif Mollah.

As  chief guest, Sheikh Moinuddin said,  he was extremely pleased and proud to be present at the inauguration of the two modern AC buses built at BRTC’s own factory. He stated that this is not merely the inauguration of two new buses—this capability itself is a matter of pride and honor for the nation.

He further said that there are many kinds of disorder in the country’s road management system, but the nation must move forward and bring discipline to the roads. To do so, capacity must be enhanced. Several measures have already been taken to ensure discipline, and BRTC must lead from the front in this regard.

Speaking as special guest, Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque said that the construction of these two AC buses at BRTC’s own factory is only the beginning. He stressed the need to achieve the highest possible excellence of local expertise.

BRTC Chairman Abdul Latif Mollah said in his speech that BRTC is not merely a transport organization but a comprehensive state service institution. In addition to operating public transport and transporting goods by trucks, BRTC has developed an integrated transport management structure through its own training infrastructure, technical institutions, and workshops.

He further added that for a long time no new vehicles were added to the BRTC fleet, and although operating costs increased due to the aging buses, regular payment of increased salaries and allowances has been ensured solely through improved management, strengthened technology-based monitoring, and reduction of unnecessary expenditures. Currently, from the central control room at BRTC headquarters, all buses and trucks operating on routes across the country are being monitored in real time on large screens using the Vehicle Tracking System (VTS).

Officials of various levels from the Road Transport and Highways Division, heads and representatives of different agencies, BRTC Director (Finance and Accounts) Dr. Anupam Saha, Director (Admin and Operations) Md. Rahenul Islam, Director (Technical and Training) Colonel Kazi Ayub Ali, general managers and deputy general managers of various departments, and other officials of the corporation were present.
