There have been allegations of using low-quality bricks in the renovation of two roads in Fulbari Upazila of Kurigram. After receiving the truth of the allegations, Naodanga Union BNP General Secretary and former Chairman Mosabber Ali Musa, along with the locals, stopped the work.

According to the Upazila Engineering Department, under the Rural Road and Culvert Repair (GOBM) program for the 2025-26 fiscal year, 220 meters of the road from Balarhat Bazar to DS Dakhil Madrasa and 200 meters of the road adjacent to Naodanga Union Parishad have been allocated for renovation.

Locals complain that although the renovation work of these two important roads has started after a long time, the contractor is using low-quality bricks. This has raised concerns about the durability of the roads and the locals fear that public suffering may increase in the future.
Local residents said, "The road work has started with great expectations. But if the work is done with low-quality materials, the road will be ruined again in a short time. We want the work to be completed with quality."

In this regard, Naodanga Union BNP General Secretary and former chairman Mosabber Ali Musa said, "Low-quality materials were being used in the renovation of two roads in the Balarhat Bazar area. If this kind of work is done, the suffering of the people will not decrease, but rather increase. Therefore, the work has been temporarily stopped with the cooperation of the locals."

Upon receiving the news, Deputy Assistant Engineer Rashedul Islam of the Upazila Engineering Department inspected the scene. He said, "Complaints have been received regarding the quality of some materials used in the work. Low-quality materials will have to be removed and quality materials will be used. The work will be stopped until the matter is resolved."

Meanwhile, locals have sought effective monitoring from the concerned authorities to ensure that the renovation work on the two roads adjacent to Balarhat Market is completed without any irregularities and maintaining 100% quality.
