In a rare display of civic responsibility and administrative accountability, Sonaimuri Upazila BNP Member Secretary Kutub Uddin Sunny single-handedly intervened to stop an influential syndicate from illegally cutting and extracting soil from government-owned land.

Going beyond a mere verbal protest, the political leader detained the heavy machinery at the spot and formally handed over the ignition keys to the local police, setting a highly praised precedent in the locality.

According to community sources, an organized ring of illegal excavators had been systematically cutting soil from government property in Patish village under Deoti Union of the upazila for a prolonged period. Upon receiving definitive information regarding the ongoing environmental and state asset degradation, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Kutub Uddin Sunny personally rushed to the location. He took a direct stand on the field, ordered an immediate halt to the illegal excavation, and confined the soil-laden vehicles and earthmovers.

Following the initial interception, Sunny proactively contacted the local law enforcement authorities to report the administrative breach. Responding swiftly to his call, a team from Sonaimuri Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamrul Islam, arrived at the scene with an active force. In front of the gathered local public, Kutub Uddin Sunny officially turned over the keys of the seized vehicles to SI Kamrul. Under police supervision, the illegal operations were completely dismantled and cleared from the site.

Confirming the details of the incident, Sonaimuri Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamrul Islam stated that the police contingent assumed control of the location immediately upon receiving the distress call. He verified that the keys of the vehicles engaged in the unauthorized soil lifting were officially taken into police custody, adding that statutory legal procedures against the perpetrators are currently underway.
