BNP's peace rally in Rupganj demanding early parliamentary elections

A BNP peace rally was held in Rupganj, Narayanganj demanding early parliamentary elections. The peace rally was held in the Ruposhi area of Tarab Municipality in the upazila on Saturday afternoon.

Leaders and activists joined the rally in groups from different wards and neighborhoods of the municipality. The rally turned into a public gathering.

Under the supervision of BNP leader Dewan Mohammad, Hafez Ahmed presided over the event, and freedom fighter Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, a member of the central BNP executive committee, was present as the chief guest. Special guests were former acting convener of the district BNP Nasir Uddin, convener of the volunteer party Mahabubur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, Mosharraf Hossain, Kazi Ahad, Zakir Hossain and many others were present.

In his speech as the chief guest, heroic freedom fighter Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir said, "The dictator Sheikh Hasina and her leaders and activists have committed widespread atrocities and torture on the common people during their 15 years in power. Awami League leaders and activists have looted and smuggled thousands of crores of taka abroad. The ghosts of the Awami League will not be allowed to rise again. Our fight will continue with the common people until democracy is established in the country through a neutral election.

We demand that the current interim government hold early national elections in order to establish democracy." He also said to the people of Rupganj, "We are by your side for any need. I call on party leaders and activists to work to prevent terrorism, drugs, extortion and anarchy."
