
BNP's biennial confce in Bajitpur after 22-yr : President Iqbal, Secretary Moniruzzaman

The biennial conference of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) was held in Kishoreganj's Bajitpur Upazila after 22 years. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal and Moniruzzaman Monir were elected as president and general secretary, respectively.
The conference was held at the Jahurul Islam Medical College Hospital grounds on Wednesday afternoon at the initiative of Bajitpur Upazila and Municipality BNP.
BNP Central Joint Secretary General Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel was the chief guest at the biennial conference held under the chairmanship of BNP Central Executive Committee member and Bajitpur Upazila BNP convener Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal and moderated by Upazila BNP No. 1 Joint Convener Moniruzzaman Monir.
The inaugural address at the biennial conference was Organizing Secretary (Mymensingh Division) and Kishoreganj District BNP President Shariful Alam.
The keynote speaker was Associate Organizing Secretary (Mymensingh Division) Advocate Shah Waresh Ali Mamun.
Co-organizing Secretary Abul Wahab Akand and Kishoreganj District BNP General Secretary Mazharul Islam were present as special guests.
Also speaking were District BNP Vice President Jahangir Mollah, Sadar BNP President Khaled Saifullah Sohel, District Organizing Secretary Haji Md. Israil Mia, Vice Presidents Ruhul Hossain and Ruhul Amin Akil, Krishak Dal Central Vice President Haji Md. Masuk, Bajitpur Municipal BNP President Ehsan Kufia, Dhaka North Metropolitan Sramik Dal Convener Md. Sumon Bhuiyan, Nikli Upazila BNP President Adv. Badrul Momen Mithu, Katiadi Upazila BNP President Tofazzal Hossain Khan Dilip, Central Chhatra Dal Vice President Hafizullah Hira, District Jubo Dal General Secretary Abdullah Al Masud Sumon, etc.
Leaders and activists of various BNP groups were also present at the conference. In particular, former MP Mujibur Rahman Manju's son Mostafizur Rahman Mamun, municipal BNP president and former municipal mayor Ehsan Kufia, and many leaders who were previously ignored due to groupings participated in the program.
Chief guest Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel said, "Today's conference has proven that BNP is more united and stronger than before. We will all work together to build the Bangladesh of the dream of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. We will be successful in the movement to restore democracy by embracing the ideals of Shaheed Zia and Patriot Begum Khaleda Zia and under the leadership of Patriot Tarique Rahman. Bajitpur Upazila BNP will be a model unit."
The conference was inaugurated by Organizing Secretary (Mymensingh Division) and President of Kishoreganj District BNP Shariful Alam, who said, "Bajitpur BNP is one of the strongest units in our district. It has become even stronger through today's conference. Therefore, the leaders and activists of Bajitpur will play a leading role in the struggle to restore democracy by maintaining unity."
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal was elected as the president and Moniruzzaman Monir as the general secretary unopposed at the conference. Kishoreganj District BNP President Shariful Alam officially announced their names. Mostafizur Rahman Mamun was announced as the 1st organizing secretary and Mohammad Ali as the 2nd organizing secretary. Later, a full committee was formed and instructions were given to send it to the district committee.
After being elected president, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal said, "It is not possible to fulfill this responsibility without your cooperation and love. I pledge to take everyone's opinions and suggestions and build BNP even stronger by maintaining organizational unity."
Senior BNP leaders believe that this conference will end the long-standing grouping in Bajitpur Upazila BNP and the party will become more organizationally unified.
