Blockade: 162 BGB platoons deployed across country

A total of 162 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to maintain the law and order situation across the country on the first day of the 9th phase of blockade called by BNP.
BGB public relations officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Sunday.
He said that 162 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country including 23 platoons in Dhaka and surrounding districts to control the law and order situation. There are also sufficient number of BGB platoons on standby.
Along with the BGB platoons, 435 patrol teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been deployed across the country. Among them, 141 patrols teams were deployed in Dhaka amidst increasing arson violence.
RAB is ensuring the security of long-distance public transport and goods-carrying transport in different parts of the country, said Imran Khan, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) at the media wing of the RAB headquarters.
