Biman Bangladesh Airlines has launched the world famous flight dispatch solution 'Lido Flight 4D' of Germany's Lufthansa system.

Biman's Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim officially inaugurated the software in the presence of German representatives at Biman Head office in Balaka on Tuesday.

Lufthansa Systems Asia Pacific CEO Tom VanDandiel was the special guest at the event. Biman Bangladesh Airlines 'Lido Flight 4D' software is a complete dispatch system, through which perfect and cost-effective flight planning is possible. For international flights it is mandatory to make flight plans and notify the air traffic control units of the countries over which the flight will be operated.

One of the factors to be considered in flight planning is the distance to the destination, speed of the aircraft, weather conditions, determination of possible alternative destinations in case of deterioration of the destination weather or emergency, determination of fuel quantity etc.

Also, which route and altitude to fly will consume the least amount of fuel; Overfly charges will be less if you fly over a country; The airport to be used is concerned whether suitable for use by aircraft; Flight dispatch is the plan to manage the flight taking into consideration whether there is a dangerous bad weather like a cyclone or an eruption or not. The software used to do these tasks is Flight Dispatch Solutions.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been using the CITA flight plan system for a long time. After the sitar, the Skyplan system was temporarily used for a few days. Later, Lufthansa Systems' 'Lido Flight 4D' flight dispatch solution was chosen as the process to transform Biman into a smart airline.
