BGC student Kawsar dies after 70 days

Kawsar Mahmud, who was critically injured during the anti-discrimination student movement died Sunday after 70 days of his injuries.
He was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Kawsar, son of Abdul Motaleb of Bhatra Union under Ramganj Upazila of Lakshipur District, was a fourth year BBA student of BGC Trust University.
His father, a grocery shop owner has been living with his family at Motaleb Nagar of city’s Commerce College Road for a long time.
Namaz-e-janaza of Kawsar was held at city’s Abdur Rahman Matbar Jame Masjid in Commerce College area Monday night and later he was buried in the graveyard next to the mosque.
Kawsar Mahmud was shot and injured during the anti-discrimination student movement in Newmarket area of city’s Kotwali thana.
He was initially admitted to Agrabad Islami Hospital. As his condition deteriorated there, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment on September 22.
Later, he was transferred to Chattogram CMH on September 28 in a critical condition.
From there, he was shifted to Dhaka CMH on September 28 for advanced treatment by an army helicopter under the overall management of 24 Infantry Division.
