A Dhaka court ordered the attachment of the immovable assets of former IGP Benazir Ahmed, his wife and three daughters on May 26 . At the same time, an order was also given to block the bank accounts in the names of these five people and the shares in their names in various companies. This newly retired police officer left the country for Singapore with his family on May 4 before this ongoing situation was created.

A source close to Benazir Ahmed said that he left Shahjalal International Airport with his three daughters and his wife on a Singapore Airlines flight on May 4. They are staying in that country due to the treatment of wife Zeeshan Mirza.

Meanwhile, the ACC has summoned Benazir Ahmed, his wife Zeeshan Mirza and three daughters for questioning about the assets. Last Tuesday, a summons notice was sent to them from the head office of the organization. In the letter signed by ACC Deputy Director Hafizul Islam, Benazir Ahmed and his wife Zeeshan Mirza and their children were asked to appear before the ACC on June 6.

An ACC official said, at the beginning of the investigation, the information of large amount of wealth of Benji's family came to light. Income tax documents of those family members are being scrutinized regarding these assets. How they built these assets needs an explanation. That is why the investigation team feels the need to question them. In view of the recommendations of the investigation team, the commission has given approval to interrogate Benazir Ahmed on June 6.

The ACC has started investigating the news that former IGP Benazir Ahmed has wealth not only in the country, but also in the United States, Canada and the United Arab Emirates, according to several high-level sources in the ACC. The agency has sought information from the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) in all three countries to find out how much wealth Benazir has in the three countries.
