BDERM's human chain held in Sylhet

On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination Sylhet District Dalit and Deprived People's Rights Movement (BDERM) arranged a human chain at Court Point in the city under the initiative of as part of the central program on Tuesday (March 21).

Swapan Kumar Rishi Das presided over and conducted by senior member Nanka Ravi Das, vice presidents of the organization Motilal Valmiki, Shyamal Das, Paresh Vaspar, Sharmila Rani Rishi, Mahila Sampadika Rajlakshi Sinha, Kumudeni Rishi, Mohammadula, Rabindra Rishi, Minti Rishi, Sultana Razia spoke at the rally, Sumitra Rishi, Shefali Rishi, Lakshi Rani Rishi, Poppy Rani Rishi, Pink Rishi, Rinku Biswas also attend here.

The speakers in the human chain said that the Anti-Discrimination Bill-2022 proposed in the National Parliament should be passed immediately to prevent caste and professional discrimination. Dalit community should be represented proportionally in general and reserved seats in the National Parliament.

The national budget should specifically increase the allocation under the social security program for the Dalit community. Housing should be provided for Dalit population in all cities and municipalities and land rights of rural Dalits should be ensured through allotment of Khas land.
