Bangladesh Railway is one of the service sectors of Bangladesh government. The government is subsidizing thousands of crores of taka to run the services smoothly in this sector. It also provides various facilities. However, corruption cannot be controlled.

Pahartali Chief Equipment Controller office handles most of the railway's purchases.

It is learnt that in case of purchase of goods of any department, demand is sent to this department. They complete the shopping process. There is always movement of a syndicate of suppliers. They make various suggestions to the officers. There have been allegations of tender control and extortion in Railway West Zone main headquarters CRB and Pahartali (CCS and factory) against two youth party leaders.

BNP has already beaten up businessmen and thrown them out of office to control tenders through party influence of various leaders but they did regular business during the Awami League government.

But since August 5, the railway officials are in panic. There are also political implications. Despite the temporary profit of the suppliers and officers, this government institution fell into huge losses due to syndicates in the supply of goods, irregularities in purchases, commission trade. Officers are greedy for commission and are buying low-quality products in the market at higher prices. The investigation committee has also found evidence of being associated with these crimes at various times.

The Chief Mechanical Engineer and his office are in charge of looking after any mechanical issues of the railway. This department is very important for improving the quality of railway services and reducing the amount of subsidy. But due to negligence in various responsibilities including syndicate in supply of goods, irregularity in purchases, commission trade, use of low quality parts, it is falling in the face. Despite having its own factory, railways are spending extra money by purchasing low quality goods from the open market without manufacturing the goods day after dayWhen asked about this, Railway Eastern General Manager (GM) Nazmul Islam said that the issue of CCS is not under our purview, it is monitored from the railway building. And we may not be able to stop all kinds of irregularities in one day but we are trying so that there are no irregularities.

The Public Relations Department is responsible for the overall communication and advertising and promotion of various development activities of the government with the media.

However, there are allegations that they are involved in unethical transactions allowing advertisements to appear in newspapers with relatively low circulation rather than advertising in preferred newspapers.
