Bangladesh Coast Guard celebrates its 30th founding anniv with enthusiasm

The 30th anniversary of the Bangladesh Coast Guard was celebrated with due dignity and formalities at the Coast Guard Headquarters in Agargaon on Monday morning.

The 30th anniversary of the Coast Guard was attended by Home Affairs Adviser to the Interim Government, Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury as Chief Guest . Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser (Home Ministry) Md. Khoda Baksh Chowdhury and Senior Secretary of the Public Security Department, Nasimul Gani were special guests. In addition, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan was also present at the event.

At the ceremony, the Home Affairs Adviser awarded 40 medals including Bangladesh Coast Guard Medal to 10 officers, sailors and civilians for their bravery and courageous works.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard is moving forward at an unstoppable pace with new enthusiasm in the new Bangladesh. This force is working relentlessly to build a liberal, democratic, non-discriminatory, safe coast. The Bangladesh Coast Guard was established in 1994 with the motto 'Guardian at Sea' to provide economic and overall security to the 19 coastal areas of Bangladesh and the adjacent riverine areas and the vast sea area of 1 lakh 18 thousand 813 square kilometers of the Bay of Bengal and the journey of the Bangladesh Coast Guard began on February 14, 1995.

Since its establishment, every member of the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been making an important contribution to ensuring national security through its constant presence in the country's coastal and riverine areas. The Coast Guard has always maintained a keen eye like a hawk in the coastal and riverine areas. This force is playing a very effective role in protecting the lives and property of the public in the country's internal rivers and seaways and coastal areas, preventing smuggling, protecting fish resources, preventing drug trafficking, conducting relief and rescue operations in various natural disasters and protecting national interests. The Coast Guard is very successfully performing its duties in suppressing theft, robbery and crime in the Chittagong port and outer anchorage areas, the main hub of the country's import-export trade.

In addition, the contribution of this force in conserving the country's national resource Rupali Hilsa, preventing the killing of Jatka and implementing the government-declared fish sanctuary in the sea is undeniable. In recent times, in dealing with the terrible flood situation in the eastern part of the country and protecting the lives and property of the victims. The role of the Coast Guard has been widely appreciated.

The Coast Guard said that over time and through the skillful implementation of far-reaching plans, every member of the force is motivated and determined to advance the country's development progress by building the Bangladesh Coast Guard into an effective, strong and efficient force.
