The main ceremonial of Baisabi, the three-day-long hill tribe's biggest social event, began with the floating of flowers in the Kaptai Lake at Rangamati with a message of joy, exuberance and harmony.

On Friday morning, on the occasion of Phulbiju, flowers were floated on water at Rajbanbihar Ghat, Garjantali Madhyawip, Kerani Pahar at various places including Baisu, Vishu, Bihu, Changkran-2024 Celebration Committee and individual initiatives.

On the occasion of Phul Biju, as soon as the sun rises, people of all ages, young and old, collect flowers from the forest and float flowers in the water of the Kaptai lake to wish for the good fortune of the new year and the prosperity of the country and the nation. After returning home, the house is decorated with flowers and neem leaves and the feet of the elderly are washed and new clothes are presented.

Dipankar Talukder, local Member of Parliament of Rangamati, said that the message of harmony and welfare is conveyed by floating flowers. Flowers are floated in this prayer that the coming year will be good and healthy.

Among the 12 communities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, this event to bid farewell to the Bengali year is considered as their main social festival.
