
Auto rickshaw driver killed, 3 Injured in truck collision in Ramu

A truck collision in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, left an autorickshaw driver dead and three others injured at around 8:00 AM on Monday in the Panirchhara area of Rashidnagar Union along the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway, according to Md. Nasir Uddin, Inspector of the Ramu Crossing Highway Police Station.The deceased, Zahidul Islam (25), was the driver of the autorickshaw involved in the accident. He was a resident of Saudagar Para in Varuakhali Union under Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila, and the son of Monsur Alam.
Although it was initially reported that all the victims were passengers of the autorickshaw, police have yet to confirm the identities of the injured.Quoting locals, Inspector Nasir Uddin said a Cox’s Bazar-bound goods-laden truck rammed into the autorickshaw ahead of it in the Panirchhara area on Monday morning. Both vehicles veered off the road into a roadside ditch and were badly damaged. Four people, including the autorickshaw driver, sustained injuries in the crash.
Local residents rushed the injured to Ramu Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared one of them dead.The highway police inspector confirmed that both vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.
