Attack on US expatriate Dipu Miah in Mirzapur

There have been allegations of attack by unknown people at the residence of US expatriate Dipu Miah in Mirzapur, Tangail.
According to information, around 10 pm last Monday (August 17), 4-5 unknown people came to their residence and started calling the name of expatriate Dipu Miah. Her elder brother Maruf Hossain came out and told them that his brother was abroad. Upon hearing this, they used abusive language and threatened to kill her and leave saying that if Dipu Miah returns to the country, he will kill her and disappear. He may face various problems including the safety of his life and property.
Dipu Miah (30), son of Loban Miah, of Bawar Kumarjani Madhya Para area of Ward 5 of Mirzapur Municipal Sadar.
Local residents said that Dipu Miah has been working as an expatriate in the United States for a long time. Due to previous enmity with him, unknown persons have come to his house several times in the past and have threatened and killed his family members, including vandalizing their houses day and night. It is said that they are now living in fear.
Dipu Miah complained that in February 2017, he became a member of the opposition party Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). I have been persecuted by the ruling class of Bangladesh due to my political views. Being a member of the LDP, which works for the common people of Bangladesh, I and my family have been subjected to mistreatment, discrimination, oppression, harassment and threats.
The victim's family members filed a GD at Mirzapur police station.
