Attack on independent candidate's convoy in Lalmonirhat, Dhaka-Burimari highway blocked

An attack has been made on the convoy of Shihab Ahmed, an independent candidate for Lalmonirhat-1 constituency. The attack took place at 12.15 am on Monday during an election campaign. Angry supporters blocked the Dhaka-Burimari highway in protest, causing a long traffic jam on the route.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, Shihab Ahmed was out in the constituency with his workers and supporters for a public relations campaign. On the way, six helmeted youths on three motorcycles suddenly attacked his convoy. As the attackers quickly left the scene, it was not possible to immediately confirm their identities.
Immediately after the attack, Shihab Ahmed's supporters erupted in anger. They blocked the road by taking positions at various points on the Dhaka-Burimari highway. As a result, hundreds of cargo trucks and passenger buses were stranded on both sides of the highway, causing extreme suffering to ordinary passengers.
Law enforcement officials quickly reached the scene after receiving the information. They are talking to the protesters to bring the situation under control. The situation in the area is currently tense.
Police said an investigation into the incident has been launched and CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts are being analyzed to identify the culprits. Additional police have been deployed to normalize the situation.
